TRAVELLER HOMES REGENERATION WORKER.
DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
Ballyfermot Travellers Action Project are currently recruiting for a
Regeneration Worker
ROLE PURPOSE
The Regeneration Worker, using Community Development values,
principles and practices, will support Labre Park residents through
the regeneration of Labre Park Halting site and more specifically in
their engagement with the Labre Park regeneration committee. The
worker will also record the learnings from the regeneration so as to
inform future regeneration of Traveller accommodation. The
regeneration will be complete over two phases during which the
Accommodation Worker will support the residents in achieving the best
outcomes for the community.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Relevant 3rd level qualification in Community Development or
related subject.
* Knowledge and understanding of policy issues affecting the
Traveller community and how these can impact on the life of Traveller
families.
* Demonstrated understanding, and commitment to, social inclusion
and community development principles.
* Working knowledge of agencies that have responsibility for
accommodation.
* Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of community
development particularly as it relates to Traveller community,
communities who suffer social disadvantage or other minority groups.
* Minimum of 3 years? experience of working in a relevant
professional field, in engaging marginalised communities.
* Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-agency setting.
* Experience of recording learnings form a community project and
report writing on same.
* Experience of outreach and detached working- and ability to engage
marginalised communities.
* Strong IT Skills?literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
DESIRABLE
* Experience of working alongside the Traveller community
* Experience of working in a regeneration setting.
* Experience of establishing contact and developing relationships
with other community and statutory agencies, to ensure collaborative
working to best meet the needs of the Community.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* assist the smooth functioning of the regeneration committee;
* work with residents to ensure the regeneration process is
culturally appropriate.
* enable and support implementation of the plans and decisions of
the regeneration committee;
* assist the process of identifying accommodation preferences among
residents;
* build and sustain the links and relationships required for the
effective implementation of the plans of the regeneration committee;
* support and enable participation on the regeneration committee, in
particular providing any support sought by the residents? group;
* build a working relationship all members of the regeneration
committee;
* communicate the work of the regeneration committee to the wider
community of Labre Park and Kylemore Grove.
* Record and report on learnings from the regeneration so as to
inform future redevelopments of Traveller accommodation.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
* DURATION OF CONTRACT: 2 year contract dependent on funding
